About Exide

European AGM and EFB at a sensible price.

Exide has a long history supplying European carmakers, and its AGM is a genuine absorbed-glass-mat unit rather than a flooded battery with an AGM sticker. That matters on the everyday stop-start hatchbacks and saloons around the Creek, which shut the engine off at every light on the Ras Al Khor road and pull the battery down dozens of times a trip. Its EFB range is the correct step for cars with entry-level stop-start.

Why drivers in Dubai Creek Harbour pick Exide

  • True AGM construction, not a relabelled flooded cell
  • EFB option for entry stop-start, so nothing gets downgraded
  • Common European and Asian case sizes held in stock year-round

Best for
Everyday stop-start cars — VW Golf, Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Nissan and Toyota models with idle-stop.
Battery technology

AGM, EFB and standard car batteries

Three constructions, three price points, and only one of them is correct for your car. Downgrading is the fastest way to buy two batteries in three years.

01

AGM

Absorbed Glass Mat

The electrolyte is held in glass matting rather than sloshing around as free acid. It tolerates deep partial discharge, charges faster and survives the constant cycling that stop-start and energy recovery cause.

  • Standard on most premium cars with stop-start
  • Required where the battery sits in the boot or cabin
  • Handles hundreds of engine restarts a day
  • Never replace an AGM with anything else

02

EFB

Enhanced Flooded Battery

A reinforced flooded battery built for entry-level stop-start systems. Roughly twice the cycle life of a standard unit, at a lower cost than AGM — but not a substitute for AGM where AGM was fitted.

  • Common on smaller cars with basic stop-start
  • Can be upgraded to AGM; never downgraded from it
  • Cheaper than AGM, far tougher than standard
  • Some European cars still need it registered

03

Standard

Flooded lead-acid

The classic wet cell. Correct on cars without stop-start — which still includes many Japanese SUVs, pickups and older saloons on the roads here.

  • Correct where no stop-start is fitted
  • Lowest cost per fitment
  • Must not be fitted where AGM or EFB was specified
  • Shorter service life in Dubai Creek Harbour heat

Fitting a Exide to your car

The brand changes the battery. It does not change the standard of the fit.

Whichever brand you choose, the visit runs the same way: the old battery is load tested first, a memory keeper goes on before anything is disconnected, the hold-down is torqued rather than nipped up, and on boot-mounted or under-seat fitments the vent tube is reconnected to its outlet.

On cars with battery management — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Porsche, Range Rover, Volvo — the new unit is then registered, and coded if the capacity or technology has changed. On most Japanese, Korean and American cars we run the resets instead: idle relearn, window and sunroof re-initialisation, steering angle. You see the result before we pack up, and the warranty is registered in your name the same day.

On a car with an intelligent battery sensor, a Exide fitted without registration is charged on the old battery's profile — which is how a good battery gets a bad reputation.

Registration and resets

Registration included with every Exide, on cars that require it

On a car with an intelligent battery sensor, a Exide fitted without registration is charged on the old battery's profile — which is how a good battery gets a bad reputation.

Registration — cars with battery management

  • BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Porsche, Land Rover and Volvo
  • Resets the ageing and charge-history counters
  • Restores the correct alternator charging voltage
  • Re-enables stop-start, which can stay off on an unregistered battery

Resets — most other makes

  • Idle and throttle relearn so the engine idles smoothly
  • Auto-window and sunroof re-initialisation
  • Steering-angle sensor reset where fitted
  • Coding on European cars when capacity or type changes

If a fitter cannot show you the registration on a diagnostic screen, it did not happen. We do it in front of you and show you the confirmation before we pack up.

The visit

How a Exide fitting runs

About twenty minutes, in your parking bay, without the car moving.

  1. 0 min

    Test before we touch anything

Load test, alternator output and parasitic drain. If the battery is healthy you get told that and we go away.

  2. 3 min

    Memory keeper connected

Power is maintained through the OBD port so radio codes, seat memory, window settings and stored preferences survive the swap.

  3. 5 min

    Old battery out

Negative first, hold-down released, vent tube unclipped if fitted, unit lifted out — with trim and paintwork protected.

  4. 10 min

    New battery in

Correct AGM, EFB or standard unit seated, hold-down torqued, vent tube reconnected, terminals cleaned and greased.

  5. 15 min

    Registered or reset

Registered or coded on cars that need it; idle, window and steering-angle resets on cars that do not. You see the result on the screen.

  6. 20 min

    Verified and cleared up

Charging voltage checked at idle and at load, fault memory cleared, old battery taken away for recycling, warranty registered in your name.

Questions

Exide questions

What drivers ask before booking.

Still unsure? Call +971 52 167 9495 — a technician answers, not a call centre.

Is Exide a good battery for my car?

It is one we will fit and warranty ourselves, which is the test we apply to everything on the shelf. Whether it is the right choice depends on the car — a stop-start car needs AGM or EFB whatever the badge says, whether it is a Nissan or a Mercedes — and we will tell you plainly if a cheaper unit would be a false economy.

How long does a Exide last in Dubai Creek Harbour?

Heat and humidity, not age, are the limiting factors by the Creek. Expect roughly three to four years from an AGM unit and two to three from a conventional one; short trips and cars left parked for days while you travel shorten both. Any battery past three years is worth load testing before the summer.

What warranty comes with a Exide?

Up to 24 months on this brand, registered in your name and honoured anywhere in Dubai Creek Harbour and the neighbouring communities. Claims are handled by us directly rather than sent back to an importer.

Can you fit a Exide in my tower's basement car park?

Yes — that is most of our work. The vans clear height-restricted basement ramps, and we come to your numbered bay once security lets us through. Villa driveways, office car parks and the roadside are normal too. Arrival in Dubai Creek Harbour is about 20 minutes, 24/7, every day.
